Zhang Zhaoxiang Meets Cuba's Minister of Energy and Mining Resources Mr. Alfred

In the morning of January 19th, MCC General Manager and President Zhang Zhaoxiang met Cuba Minister of Energy and Mining Resources Mr. Alfred at the MCC Headquarters in Beijing, where they held a cordial conversation and reached an agreement regarding cooperation in several nickel mineral projects and resource exploration projects subordinate to the Cuba Ministry of Energy and Mining Resources.

Zhang Zhaoxiang welcomed Mr. Alfred and his delegation and briefly introduced the basic information of the Group, pointing out that MCC, as a super-large central enterprise, is the world’s largest and strongest metallurgical construction contractor and metallurgical enterprise operation service provider, one of the key resource-type enterprises determined by the State, the national steel structure manufacturing enterprise with the largest productivity, and China’s main force of capital construction. In 2015, MCC was ranked 326th in the 'World Top 500 Enterprises' and 10th in the 'Global Contractor Top 250' published by ENR.

Zhang Zhaoxiang stated that MCC is the only Chinese corporation that can provide the production of high-grade ferronickel metallurgy technology. The nickel content of ferronickel produced in the Tagaung Taung Project with technologies and equipment supplied by MCC is 35%~37%. The main equipment specification in this project is basically consistent with that of the Cuba MOA Ferronickel Project. MCC is willing to jointly consult with the Cuba Ministry of Energy and Mining Resources on the development and construction planning of Cuba's mineral resources, with the help of friendship between both countries and the support of the Chinese Government in planning research, so as to obtain mutual profits, win-win results and joint development.

Mr. Alfred thanked President Zhang Zhaoxiang for his warm reception and briefly introduced the basic information of several nickel mineral projects and resource exploration projects under the leadership of the Cuba Ministry of Energy and Mining Resources, pointing out that, as one of the world's top 500 enterprises, MCC has strong comprehensive advantages in technology, management, capital and other aspects. The involvement of MCC will not only optimize the project's process, but also reduce its production cost and improve its benefits. The Cuba Ministry of Energy and Mining Resources agrees to conduct more in-depth cooperation in other fields, on the basis of close communication and contact in the early stages of the project, so as to jointly promote the implementation of the Nickel Mineral Project in western Cuba and other projects.

After the meeting, commonly witnessed by Zhang Zhaoxiang and Mr. Alfred, Caribbean Nickel and MCC International signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the Nickel Mineral Project in western Cuba.
